When I saw the photo sample included in the Daily Post at WordPress.com‘s photo challenge for this week, I wondered how I would capture solitary in a photo. While driving home from work, I came up with this idea for solitary.
[Chuckle] The challenger started the post with the following statement, “I love capturing a person in a quiet and often unexpected moment. These kinds of images can be reflective, mysterious, or even sad, conjuring strong emotions and stirring up stories in my head.” It’s funny how much that applies to this photo of the toilet, although I couldn’t bring myself, or anyone else, to pose in the photo. 🙂
I didn’t think that I would be photographing a toilet as part of a photo challenge [another chuckle], but it just seemed to work so well for this one. As a parent, sometimes this porcelain throne offers those solitary moments – a time away from the yelling kids, barking dog (wait! I don’t have a dog. Oh well.), and ringing phone.
Rather than taking a standard shot of the toilet, I attached the Photojojo fisheye lens to my iPhone, shut the door to the water closet, and snapped a few shots. [Yet another chuckle]
Where do you find your solitary moments?

This photo made me smile – because it definitely IS the only solitary time I get!! Perfect for the challenge!! 😉
Thanks. It makes me chuckle, too. 🙂
I remember those days well! LOL 😉
As there hasn’t been a new WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge so far this week, perhaps you’d like to join in the Weekly Travel Theme http://wheresmybackpack.com/2012/09/28/travel-theme-foliage/ xxx Ailsa
Sure. The changing leaves are beautiful here in Utah, so I’ll see if I can capture a shot to share. Thanks for the challenge.
