After tucking my kids into bed, I stepped outside for just a moment to see if I could see any lightning bolts launching from the clouds. But what I saw caused me to race back inside, grab my camera and step out on my porch with the camera aimed to the north. When the blue sky was getting washed out, I raced back inside to add my glass filters and raced back to the porch. I don’t think I have ever slapped the filter apparatus to the end of my lens so quickly – possibly a world speed record? 🙂
I loved how the clouds looked in person, and this photo doesn’t quite do it justice. But it was cool enough to where I wanted to share it on my blog.

I did some quick research on the types of clouds and I am pretty sure they are nimbostratus clouds. Can any cloud expert confirm?
